Troubleshooting Your Chiller: Why It Might Not Be Working

Here are the common reasons your chiller might not be performing as expected and solutions to help you get it back on track.

Common Reasons Your Chiller Isn’t Working:

  1. Chiller Not Settled After Delivery: After delivery, your chiller needs 12-24 hours to settle. The internal gases in the compressor need time to stabilize, especially after shipping.
  2. Exposure to Extreme Weather: Harsh weather conditions can affect the chiller’s performance. Ensure it's in a stable environment away from extreme heat or cold.
  3. Exceeding Maximum Water Capacity: Each chiller model has a maximum water volume it can cool efficiently. Make sure you are not exceeding this limit.
  4. Incorrect Placement: If the chiller is placed on an uneven surface or too far from the tub, its cooling performance will be compromised.
  5. Ventilation Issues: Ensure the chiller is placed in a well-ventilated area with at least 30cm of space around it for proper airflow.
  6. Improper Connections: Make sure all hoses, filters, and pumps are connected properly. A loose or misaligned fitting could prevent proper cooling or circulation.
  7. Incorrect Setup with House Bathtubs: When using a house bathtub, certain setup steps are essential. Failure to follow the instructions might cause the chiller to underperform.

How to Fix These Issues

1. If the Chiller is Circulating but Not Cooling:

  • Check the ventilation and ensure you are not exceeding the maximum water volume.
  • Adjust the F1 and F2 settings.
    • F1 (Temperature Delay Start): Should be set to 3-5°F/C by default. This ensures the chiller turns back on after the temperature rises slightly.
    • F2 (Temperature Difference): Should be set to 0°F/C to match the tub’s water temperature with the chiller’s output.

2. If the Water Isn’t Circulating:

  • Air Trapped in the Pump: The pump might have trapped air. To resolve this, fill the hoses and pump with water before connecting. Both the pump and filter have arrows showing the direction of water flow, which must point towards the chiller.
  • Pump Not Circulating: If the pump is submerged in a house bathtub, ensure it’s properly connected and water is free of air pockets. If the pump isn't primed, it won’t circulate water.

3. Using the Chiller with a House Bathtub:

  • Fill the chiller, hoses, and pump with water to avoid air pockets.
  • Ensure that the pump and filter arrows point towards the chiller.
  • Submerge the pump in the bathtub to initiate water circulation. The pump is waterproof, but it needs to be air-free to work efficiently.

  • If the chiller is not working due to user-related issues like improper setup, exceeding water volume limits, or failure to follow instructions (as outlined above), customers will be responsible for return shipping.
  • You can still request a return label, but a 30% return fee will be applied to cover restocking and shipping costs.
